Please join us in thanking Brooke Seawell ’65 and his wife, Rosemary, who have committed $2 million to establish the Brooke and Rosemary Seawell STEM Center at Landon School. The science, technology, engineering, and math center will be part of the new Upper School that will be built in the initial implementation phase of our campus master plan.

“Head of School Jim Neill and Science Department Chair Chris Ros are building a strong faculty and curriculum. With this new center, we hope to give them as much opportunity as possible to build a world-class STEM program,” said the Seawells. “Preparing students with a balance of technology skills and communication skills is essential today.”

Brooke is a venture partner at New Enterprise Associates and a member of the Landon Board of Trustees. Rosemary is a graduate of Holton-Arms, where the couple has also made a gift to support a Learning Center.

The Brooke and Rosemary Seawell STEM Center will be located on the main floor of the new Boehly Upper School. It will include modern spaces for media and computer science; updated biology, chemistry, and physics laboratories; and improved space for technology, coding, and robotics.

Chris Ros noted, “This new center will be a game changer in that it will afford easier access to all we’d like to do to energize learning. In addition to the new labs and equipment, the center will have central open space where classes can collaborate and passersby can see presentations and become part of the learning process. It will inspire all of our students and teachers. It’s going to jumpstart some passionate work and intriguing ideas. There are a lot of entrepreneurial aspects to asking students to explore the world around them and design solutions to real problems.”

Our deepest thanks go to the Seawells and all of our generous benefactors who are helping us realize our strategic vision to enhance and transform our academic buildings and our boys’ experience.
