Please join Landon in thanking Chris ’91 and Maria Manning, P’26, who have made a gift to establish the Manning Student Health Center, which will be located in the renovated Banfield Academic Center.

Chris and Maria are longtime supporters of the School and are excited about The Campaign for Landon. Chris noted, “We are thrilled for Landon to have facilities that match Head of School Jim Neill’s vision of excellence. What Landon is doing, not just in terms of education, but in developing character and understanding each individual student, is truly inspiring to us.”

Maria, who is a Clinical Professor of Radiology at Georgetown University Hospital, explained, “Healthcare has always been very important to us. Landon and School Nurse Julie Acebal have been phenomenal in meeting the challenges of recent years, and the new health center will better support the care of all the boys. Having top-notch facilities in a centralized location on campus will help Landon provide the highest level of student health services.”

Chris and Maria met while attending Duke University. Chris went on to study at Harvard Law School before moving back to the Washington, D.C. area in 1999. He is a partner in the law firm of Williams & Connolly LLP. Over the years, Chris has served on the Landon Alumni Board and the Board of Trustees, and he and Maria have volunteered with the Azalea Festival, the auction and other events. Chris was a longtime class agent for the Class of 1991, and he has made an annual gift to Landon every year for 32 years.

“I had fifty-one brothers in my class at Landon as well as the support of Landon teachers all through college and law school, and I am thankful I’ve been able to give something back,” he said.

As parents, Chris and Maria appreciate the transformative experience that Landon faculty continue to create for the boys. They noted the support their son, Sean ’26, has had in trying new things and charting his own path at Landon.

Maria related, “The teachers see each student as an individual and find ways to help each of them maximize his potential. Having seen them in action firsthand with my son and his classmates, their dedication is more than I could have imagined. That is why I will support Landon for the rest of my life.”

Our deepest thanks go to the Manning family. If you would like to explore making a gift that is meaningful to you and the School, please contact Director of Development Peter J. Gallo, Ph.D., at peter_gallo@landon.net or 301-320-1004.
